The Story of Nothing

First there was a world of Nothing.

Nothing was Everything. Zero and One. Then Nothing discovered Possibility.

That Knowledge divided Nothing from Everything, but One and One cannot Be.

So Everything and Possibility became Something. One and One became Two.

Thus Sun and the Moon first came to be: Knowledge became Mercury and the lingering Nothing was still formless. 

The Sun lit up the Moon and so came to Know of his Light. 

The Moon was changed by the Light and came to Know of her Depth. 

Between them, Knowledge grew and the Things that Could Be and the Things that Were grew.

From the Sun came Heaven and Hell, Jupiter and Saturn. The Sun was brilliant and warm, a form from which many things could spring. In seeing the Moon’s light darken, he learned of the formless Nothingness within Everything: even the Sun would become dark one day. His love became Truth and Illusion, the peace of knowing and the burden of carrying onward despite. 

From the Moon came Fulfillment and Desire, Venus and Mars. The Moon was shifting and dynamic, the force which brought forth from Possibility Something. In seeing herself grow and shrink again, the Moon learned of the Nothingness within: all that was would return to Nothing. Her love became Ecstacy and Defiance, the exhilaration of Possibility manifest and the pain of resisting the impossibility of Everything. 

Where Knowledge connects the Self and the Other, Reality takes shape. To partake in this is an act of Love, of Truth and Lies, Ecstasy and Defiance, This and That, First and Last, Extreme and Center, All and Nothing. 

Know thyself and you will understand the One. 

Despair in your sorrow or fulfill yourself with Love.

Know the other and you will understand the Nothing. 

Rage in your lacking or satisfy yourself with Love.

Know that you are Truth and Illusion and you will come into full Being.

Know that you are Ecstasy and Defiance and you can Become anything.

Know that the Skies and the Stones are dancing and you are one of the rhythms of their eternal courtship. 

This is the doctrine of the Horizon we follow after in our pursuit of Knowing: Consciousness’ greatest act of Love.
